“Doesn't that mean everyone in another religion ends up in hell?”

🔥The question: “Does God abandon people who were never baptized or never had a chance to hear about Jesus?”

🛡️The Church's answer: All salvation comes from the grace of Jesus Christ, but we do not get to set the limits of how far that grace reaches. The Church teaches that people who, through no fault of their own, did not come to know Christ and his Church, yet sincerely seek God and try to do good as their conscience directs, can reach salvation by God's grace. Conversely, a baptismal certificate does not automatically make a life that refused love and justice come out right. The final judgment belongs to God.

🧐If they press further: “Then does it not matter what religion you believe?” — Truth and choice matter. Deliberately turning away from what you know is not the same as never having had the chance to know. Still, instead of putting someone else's heart on trial, we have to live and share the Gospel we received, in love.
